Ceramic reference resources questionnaire

Historic England is undertaking a project to gain a strategic overview of archaeological reference resources. The project has begun with a survey of ceramic type series, with the aim of getting a better understanding of their coverage, availability, use and gaps. This will take stock of what fabric (and form) series exist and which are still currently active. It is hoped that the information will lead to steps towards formulating a plan to improve the standards of pottery analysis and unlock its research value.

A questionnaire about ceramic resources was circulated to SGRP members, and some of the responses are available below. Please note these responses are unedited and are presented here for information only.
